Nan Lu, OMD, partners with Family Practice physician Dr. Joseph Kessler to offer a holistic approach to high blood pressure.
This two-part course blends Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine to explore causes, treatments, and natural options for managing high blood pressure.
Dr. Kessler will explain how Western medicine addresses high blood pressure, including common medications and their effects. Nan Lu, OMD, will share a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, highlighting lifestyle, acupuncture protocols, and herbal support.
Through comparison and integration, you’ll discover how these approaches can work together to offer natural, effective options for healing.
Treatment Plan
Lifestyle changes are often the first step in managing high blood pressure, focusing on exercise, diet, and stress reduction. From a Western perspective, medications are commonly used to control symptoms, but they can come with side effects that affect some individuals more than others. This course explores why these differences occur and how to minimize side effects through a complementary approach.
From the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, high blood pressure is more than just a physical condition—it reflects deeper imbalances. TCM sees it as life out of balance, where stress, diet, emotional patterns, and lifestyle choices disrupt the natural flow of energy.
In this course, you’ll discover how Qigong, herbs, and acupuncture can restore harmony and support healing. We’ll also explore how medications interact with your organs from both Western and TCM perspectives and how TCM practices can help reduce dependence on medication.
By integrating both approaches, you’ll gain practical tools to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses the root cause, rather than just managing symptoms.
Who is this course for?
The course is for doctors and practitioners as much as it is for anyone diagnosed with high blood pressure (or who would like to avoid it). This is an opportunity to allow dialogue between doctors and patients to see the true nature of this common problem and to work together to resolve it.
